Human Defenses to Climate Change (Week 9) - Post 3

Human Defenses to Climate Change: My Thoughts

For this weeks learning I watched three very informative TED talks. Two of them were by Al Gore, being only 17 I am too young to remember his political run, so it was cool to see him speak live, and speak about something so important to him. I learned about how best to present the issue of Climate Change to the public. Specifically, I learned about the main factors that lead to the denial of climate change. Learning about those factors was really eye opening, because I see so many of the reasons portrayed in my own life and in the people around me. Certain reasons are so obvious in people that it is almost comical. Of course nothing about this topic is funny, but it is just interesting to see a person's denial so well defined. This week I didn't necessarily learn more about climate science, I learned about the human side of the issue, the more personal side of the debate. I enjoyed this weeks learning and I am excited to use it when framing my presentation, and in debates in general.
This week was about the reasons behind human denial of climate change, and while I have no questions on the learning, I know a person reading will wonder how to best combat these factors. So I will just explain that because of the sheer amount of information on the topic of denial I have split it up into two weeks. Week 10s learning will be on how to combat each of the three factors preventing people from engaging in solving climate change.
