Human Defenses to Climate Change Pt.2 (Week 10) - Post 3
Human Defenses to Climate Change Pt.2 - My Thoughts
This week I focused on how to specifically combat climate change denial. When looking at denial I choose to view it from an emotionally removed, critical view point. Climate change denial is often a very emotional discussion that tends to make one or both sides very angry. That is why I looked at denial as a condition of the human mind and focused more on what causes denial then the denial itself. From that view it is possible to study and write about it emotion free. Through my research I found a lot of really valuable ways to combat denial. Some ideas I learned from Al Gore, some from TED talks, and others from peer reviewed articles. I largely enjoyed this week; it was one of the most positive subjects I have had so far. Studying solutions to climate change has a way of reinforcing optimism, something I think is very important in this field.
There are an infinite amount of ways to combat climate change denial because there are an infinite amount of differing reasons people deny climate change. Because there are so many solutions, my post two this week really only scratched the surface. I would like to learn about more solutions and I would like to be able to share those solutions with others. What is the purpose of teaching others that they are destroying the Earth if you do not tell them how to change.
How would you personally like to address the climate change deniers?
